Brief Introduction of Koraput Dist of Odisha
Koraput is always an attractive place filled with natural resources and scenic beauty. The district is situated at a height of 2,900 ft above the sea level. Presence of the giant great mountain valleys, Perennial waterfalls, rivers, extensive grass lands and the tribal culture make it a wonderful visiting place in Odisha. Duduma Water F all of KoraputThe Highest water fall of Odisha, Duduma Waterfall is situated in MachhaKund River of Koraput Dist of Odisha. The Height of the waterfall is 157 meters (about 515 ft.), which makes it majestic. The waterfall is also famous as "Matsya Tirtha". A large Hydro-Electric Project popularly known Machkund Hydro Electric Project is supported by the waterfall. Duduma waterfall forms a boarder between Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. A small village named Ankadei , which is about 3 km away from the waterfall is an attractive place because of its weekly markets and Primitive Bonds. The picturesque surroundings and natural beauty around it makes it a good picnic spot as well. Duduma Waterfall is about 88km away from Koraput.
Jeypore, The Royal City of Koraput
Jeypore, the city of Victory is an important place of Koraput. It is important in the point of Trade and marketing. The palace of the ancient Kingdom with the old fort is always a place to watch.
The Jagannath Temple situated at Jeypore is the second highest Jagannath Temple of Odisha after that of the original at Puri.
The Water Sporting facility at the one and half meter Tank, Jagannath Sagar is another attraction of the place. The Sewa Paper Mill is another attraction of this place.
Sabara Srikhetra of KoraputThe Jagannath Temple of Koraput, popularly known as Sabara Srikhetra of Odisha is situated on a hill top. The name Sabara Srikhetra is given to the place because it was built by the Sabaras (Tribes) of Koraput.
There is no restriction to enter into the shrine temple for anybody. It demonstrates the very concept of Jagannath consciousness. The model of Jagannath Temple at Koraput is almost similar to that of Original at Puri. The surrounding environment of the temple is so peaceful. A museum of group of small temples are also there in front of the south door of the temple.
Kolab River of Koraput
The Kolab river, a tributary of river Godavari is situated at an altitude of about 3000 ft. above sea level. The river is divided into two parts popularly known as Upper Kolab and Lower Kolab. On Upper Kolab, there exists a Hydro Electric Project known as Kolab Hydro Electric Project.
The river Kolab is the perennial source of water for irrigation, drinking water and Hydro Electric Project. The natural beauty around it is always an attraction for the tourists as well as picnic lovers.
Gupteswar, the holy shrine siva lingam of KoraputGupteswar, the holy shrine shiva lingam is situated in the cave inside the forest of Ramagiri Hills. It is a famous pilgrimage place of Koraput Dist. which is about 45 Km. away from Jeypore. Surrounded with dense forest having rare big Sal trees and Saberi river makes the place even more interesting. One can find other caves also apart from the main cave of Gupteswar.
The musical voice of the flowing river Saberi is always pleasant to listen. The water is so cold that it attracts many visitors to have a dip bath here.
Damanjodi of Koraput
Damanjodi is a small village of Koraput is known for its natural beauty. It is basically a hilly area. The place has earned its popularity because of the presence of National Aluminum Company ( NALCO), Asia's largest and world's Seventh largest Aluminum company.

• The famous Shri Ram Temple of Dumuriput, a small village situated between koraput and sunabeda.
• The highest kneeling Hanuman Statue in Orissa situated at Dumuriput.
• The 1.8 meters image of Ganapati situated at Nandapur, the ancient capital of Jeypore Kingdom.
• A Govt. Museum with antiquities and craft works situated at town hall near bus stand of Koraput.
• India's highest broad gauge Railway tunnel situated at Maliguda.
• Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and its township situated at Sunabeda.
How to reach KoraputKoraput is being connected to NH-5 is not a difficult place to reach. One can reach here both by Bus and Train. By road, the distance is less as compared to Railways.
Koraput Railway Station is the nearest railway station. Berhampur is about 350 Km, Bhubaneswar 520 Km away from Koraput.
Koraput is connected by roads to al most all places of Odisha. So, one can reach here easily.
