Recently on 23rd of December 2011, 555 Odissi Dancers from all over the world did a World Record by performing Odissi Dance with a single music and step at Kalinga Stadium of Bhuabaneswar. To know more about the concert please read this article.

Organizers: Orissa Tourism, Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odishi Research Center and America's Indian Arts Institute.

Location: Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, Odisha

Participants: 555 Odissi Dancers from Orissa, America, Mexico, Peru, Japan and other corners of India and abroad.

Music and Dance Gurus: Guru Ratikanta Mohapatra, Guru Ramahari Das, Guru Durga Charan Ranvir, Guru Aruna Mohanty, Dr. Sangeeta Gosain, Guru Dhaneswar Swain, Guru Sachidananda Das and many other assistants.

About the Event: Guinness Book of World Record on Odissi Dance

Around more than 5 thousand viewers were keened to watch this program at Kalinga Stadium gallery from 2 pm onwards. At 3: 30 pm the dancers came to the ground with extravagant steps; on which the stadium resonated with viewer's claps. At first dancers vowed themselves under the feet of Lord Jagannath with song of Shankaracharya's 'Jagannath Swami Nayana Patha Gami, Bhava Tume…'

On Mangalacharan, 1100 feet steps rhythm vibrated the whole stadium. Then simultaneously, 'Pallavi', 'Batu', Abhinaya', and 'Mokshya' performed by the dancers. The non-stop performance ended at 4:05 pm and recorded in Guinness Book of World Record as 'Highest Classical Group Dance Performers of the World'.
