Basics and components of Computer system

The basics and importance of the computer system
The computer is an Electronic device and it performs various functions and operations in our day to day life. This computer is considered as an essential equipment today and it is available in all the places like Home, Office, Shops, Industries and companies, Bank and insurance offices, Educational institutions, Railway, Space and Defense and many departments in world wide. The use of computers are increasing each and every day. The technology of communication system has been improved by the facilities and use of computers. The internet is a good facility in world wide to make ease of communication to anybody at anytime from anywhere. The computer has two objects namely Hardware and Software. The hardware is the electronic parts and devices of computer. The software is a logical component which helps to execute various functions in computer.
The components of computer system
The computer has many components which are integrated together to perform variety of functions and operations. These components are also known as hardware of the computer.
Input and Output devices of the computer system
The Input device is used to feed the data into the computer. This device is connected to the computer processor via interface. The keyboard is a good example for the input device. The input ports in the computer makes proper interface with this device.
The Output device is used to display the results of various functions and operations. The monitor is good example for the output device and it displays the results in screen only. The output may be printed in paper by using the printer. It is also an output device which provides the results of operations in paper.
The Central Processing Unit of the computer system
The Central Processing Unit is also known as CPU which performs all operations of the computer. The CPU consists of three sub units namely Arithmetic and Logic Unit(ALU), Main Memory Unit (MMU) and Control Unit.
The entire calculations and functions are done by ALU. The MMU is used to store the data during the operations in memory. The secondary storage like CD ROM, hard disks, Floppy disks are used as permanent storage. The control unit controls the entire process of computer by enabling various services. All these devices of CPU are connected by interface cables and wires.
The various languages of Computer system
The computer can understand only machine codes in the form of Binary Digits(BITS) which has zero and one only. This language is also known as Machine Level Language or object language. The programmers those who are writing computer programs are using High level languages and it is also known as programming languages. The BASIC, FORTRAN, COBOL, PASCAL and C are the examples of computer programming languages. These languages are also called as source language. Assembly language is a special type of language in computer which is used for micro process operations. Apart from this, There are some other languages in computer namely Object oriented programming languages like JAVA and C++, Web programming languages like HTML, ASP, XML and WAP etc..
Types of software available in Computer system
The software is nothing but a set of computer programs. The program can be defined as a set of instructions and it written by using computer programming languages. There are basically computer system has two types of software namely System software and Application Software.
System software of Computer systems
The system software is a set of programs that aims to effective utilization of computer hardware resources by executing the user's program in the computer system effectively. The Operating Systems like Windows, Unix, DOS are the examples of system software. The Text Editors, Loaders, Linking programs are also the system programs. The specialized system programmers will write this kind of programs.
Application software of Computer system
The application software is also a set of programs which are written by the application programmers for a specific applications in our day to day life needs. The software like accounting and financial, Scientific and Engineering and web applications are the examples of application programs. This application programs will fulfill all the requirements of the general users in the computer system.
