Budhakhol , the heritage beauty of Odisha is situated in the Buguda block of Ganjam Dist. It is the symbol of Buddhist culture. The place is filled with full of trees, caves and temples , which is the main attraction for tourists and picnickers. It is alleged that the place is named after the Goutam Buddha, in meditation posture. Historically, this place keeps its importance. According to Hewn-t-Sang, it was considered as a best learning place of Buddhism.

Attractions Near Budhakhol of Ganjam

Budhakhol is surrounded with natural beauty. The main attraction is small and big caves, which were prepared by cutting big stones. It was the meeting place of Buddhist monks. Jain ascetics and Shiva hermits. A number of Buddhist remains still found at this place. It is also alleged that Gautam Buddha, the preacher of Buddhism and The Great Asoka, the follower of Buddhism have done meditation here. Hence, the caves are also called "Siddha Gumpha" .

The presence of a bunch of five temples on the top of the hill is another attraction of this place. The temples are dedicated to Lord Shiva, popularly known as Panchu Mahadeva. On Shivratri and Kartika Purnima, a large number of pilgrims come here to offer puja to Lord Shiva.

The presence of a perennial Waterfall, Panjuria adds to its beauty. Separate bathing areas have also been created for Ladies and Gents very close to the waterfall at the top. The flow of waterfall amidst the tall green Banyan tree is an excellent scene to watch. It is alleged from the local people, that the waterfall is having some medicinal value.

The place is surrounded with Floras. People love cooking here under the shadow of these big lush green trees. Because of cool and calm environment, it has always been a preference spot for picnic.

How To Reach Budhakhol of Ganjam

Berhampur Railway Station is the nearest Railway Station. After reaching the station, one has to travel about 70 Km by Bus to reach Budhakhol.

Continuous Transportation facilities are available from Berhampur to Buguda by bus. And from Buguda, Budhakhol is just 3 Km away.
