International Tourist Place: Puri of Odisha

Puri is situated over a distance of 62kms away from state capital. It is with one of the most beautiful beaches of the world on the eastern coast of Bay of Bengal that attracts millions of tourists annually. It is also consider as one of the four most sacred places for Hindus according to Hindu theology as the Shri Jagannath , the Lord of universe is here.

The Jagannath temple denotes the finest Orissan architecture. The height of the temple is 192ft. Gajapati Chodagangadev had build the temple in 12th century. The deities of the temple are Lord Jaganaath, his elder brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra. The architecture of temple and seek of Lord's blessings attract millions of pilgrim to the temple. The unique and biggest colourful festival called Car festival in the month of july is the only festival of state in which the sea of humanity actively take part. Millions of Jagannath devotee draw the traditionally decorated three wooden car of three deities . Nonhindu devotees of Jagannath get a glimpse of the God in this festival of humanity. Despite being closed to Nonhindus Jagannath attracts the scholars all over the world. Besides Sri Lokanath temple,Gundicha temple, Bimala temple, Muktimandap,Sunar Gourang ,Narendra tank, Emar Math library and Sri Jagannath Sanskrit University are also favourite for the outsider.

Apart from Jagannath and other temple also Puri continues to attract thousands of sea lovers to enjoy the serenity of the golden beach. The sand arts are practiced by the students on the beach. Sri Sudarshan Pattnayak is a reputed artist of this sand art, who had awarded with various prestigious awards internationally. The sand art of Sudarshan Pattnayak and his students is also considered as an attraction to the golden beach of Puri.

Konark which is situated at a distance of 65km from state capital and 40km from Puri on the marine drive which is famous for the Sun temple as well as the Nabhagraha temple, Archaeological museum and Golden beach of Chandrabhaga. It is popularly known as Arka Kshetra.

Puri is also the shopper's delights. The visitor also visits to Raghurajpur and Pipil to acquaint with the best Orissan paintings as well as famous appliqué works .Puri is also an health and summer resort of India.
