Orissa is now "Odisha" and Oriya is now "Odia"


Odisha Chief Minister declared that Orissa is now "Odisha" and Oriya is now "Odia" on 4th November 2011. So CM of Odisha has announced 5th November as a Govt holiday. Read the below article to know more details about the new name of Orissa.

Orissa is now Odisha
On 4th November 2011, president of India Srimati Prativa Singh Patil has approved the bill for changing to the new name of Orissa. So Odisha Chief minister Mr Naveen Patanaik has given many many thanks to the president of India. To remember this historical moment Odisha CM has announced 5th November 2011 as Govt holiday according to "Negotiable Instrument Act". So all school, colleges and govt offices were remained closed on Saturday. From Orissa to "Odisha" and Oriya to "Odia" is now a law after the approval of president. All the odia people were demanding for approval of the bill. In 2008 all Orissa M.L.A. s were given approval to this bill.

For remembering this historical moment Orissa CM Mr Naveen Patanaik has arranged attractive fireworks in front of state legislative assembly. After approval of the bill Mr Naveen Patanaik has sent his first thanking letter to India President with spelling Odisha instead of Orissa.
