Oberoi Palm Beach Hotel at Gopalpur Orissa is at last purchased by Industrialist Dillip Ray of Mayfair Group. In the midst of this Mayfair Group centralizing and expanding its hotel and tourism business at eastern India region. Dillip Ray purchased this Hotel on 9th September 2011 from Oberoi Groups. The total value of purchasing is 9 crore rupees, where state govt. received 62 lac rupees in the form of stamp duties.

History of Oberoi Palm Beach Hotel at Gopalpur, Orissa

Hotel Oberoi Palm Beach has its own specialty. This hotel first established by an Italian citizen Magilioni in the year 1914. At that time, Britons were used this hotel as a guest or rest houses. Britons used to travel to Rangoon from Gopalpur via Bay-of-Bengal. In the year 1945, Oberoi purchased this hotel and reconstructed in 1947 before India's independence.

Oberoi Palm Beach hotel was been closed in the duration 2004-05, due to certain reasons. Oberoi Group first started hotel business from Palm Beach Hotel, Gopalpur. Earlier Oberoi has its property at Shimla, then at Calcutta and then at Gopalpur on sea. Therefore, Palm Beach Hotel at Gopalpur was its third owned property.

Palm Beach Hotel consists of 19 rooms, one restaurant and one bar. The hotel stands over a land of 11 acre; out of which 3 acre land was leased and 8 acre was owned by the company.

Future Planning of Oberoi Palm Beach Hotel at Gopalpur by Mayfair Group

Mayfair Group changed its name to Mayfair Palm Beach Hotel. Mayfair proposed to invest near about 30-35 crore rupees for 35 rooms, one conference hall, spa, swimming pool, etc. This will be a deluxe 5star category; bigger than that of Hyderabad's. Mayfair Group also purchased a land at 1km from Kolkata, where planned to build 100 rooms deluxe 5star hotel. In addition, Mayfair's second project will be going to start at Puri, Orissa within 5-6 month of duration; next at Satapada. Overall, there are 11 hotels have been proposed by Mayfair Group; and going to be one of the biggest hotel chain in Eastern Indian Region.
