Some of the famous waterfalls of Orissa are Joranda falls, Harishankar falls, Barehipani, Duduma, Khandadhar, Badaghaghara, Sanaghaghar, Pradhanpat and many more. Joranda Falls of Orissa
Speaking about the waterfalls in Odisha one can not forget the beautiful Joranda Falls located in the core area of
Similipal National Park in Mayurbhanj
district. The waterfall is known as for its matchless beauty. It is one of the most beautiful & famous waterfalls in the whole of the country. The falls with a height of 490ft or 150 meters is falling over a haughty rock-face spreading out faintly outer wards.
It is one of the most attraction places of Orissa. Most of the tourist and picnickers visit here for its cool and calm climate to enjoy and entertain them with the nature. Its additional benefit for the tourists is the nearest wildlife sanctuary at Similipal. Connected by road directly with Baripada headquarter of Mayurbhanj; it is very nearer to rail-head Balasore and airport of Bhubaneswar and Kolkata.
Barehipani Falls of Orissa
Barehipani is nearby Joranda falls of Orissa; situated on the river Budhabalanga at Meghasan mountain. It is two-tired falls, flowing from 399 meters of height. People comes to Joranda mostly visit to Barehipani to watch its two drops scenery.
Harishankar Falls of Orissa
Harishankar is located at southern sides of Gandhamardhan hills of Balangir. The temple Harishankar is one of the most holistic pilgrimage for Hindus; where both Hari (Lord Vishnu) and Shankar (Lord Shiva) united to bless their devotees. It's waterfall nearby the temple attracts to other visitor for picnic and rejoicing the beauty of nature. It is 81 km far from Bolangir, both connected by road and rail.
Duduma Falls of Orissa
Duduma falls is located at Koraput district, 92 km far from the Koraput town. It is one of the highest water falls of southern India. It is also for Machkund Hydro Electric Power Project. Machkund is a famous place for its picnic place and Hindu pilgrimage center. Duduma is situated on the river Machkund, which is also known as 'Matsya Kund' in Sanskrit. Duduma is very famous place for tourists of India; most of the tourist from Andhra Pradesh and Orissa used to visit every year to see and enjoy the beautification of nature.
Pradhanpat Falls of Orissa
Pradhanpat Falls is one of the most scenic places of Orissa. It is only 96k far from Sambalpur NH6 and Jharsudua railway station. It's colorful streams and greenery nature attract every tourist and trekkers to visit again and again. There are two guest houses, Basanta Nivas and Lalita Basanta; very comfortable to stay and watch the scenery around the year.
Khandadhar Falls of Orissa
Khandadhar Falls is situated at Nandapani of Sundergarh district; flows from Korapani Nala (streams) throughout the year. It's view is just like a horse tail which flows from a height of 800 feet. Khandadhar falls is only 60 km from Keonjhar and 104 km from Bonaigarh of Rourkela.
Badaghaghra Falls of Orissa
Located just 10km from Keonjhar district, it flows from a height of 60 meter from river Ghaghra. The falls is surrounded with hills and jungles; mostly exciting and enjoyable for tourists and picnickers.
Sanaghaghra Falls of Orissa
Sanaghaghra falls is located at just 5km from Keonjhar district; which falls on the river Ghaghra and flows from a height of 30km. It is one of most beautiful picnic places of Orissa; basically for Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and nearby districts. It's charming and exciting beauty and nature attracts the tourist every time for picnic. The best time to visit here is from October to March.
