The two Rs. Rice project by Odisha Govt. at this region, is the only source of these people's survival. However, there are many irregular activities has seen in this case. The main sources of these people are agriculture; by which they are getting lots of hope and source of income for their family. The KBK region is compiled with 30.59 % area and 20% population of Odisha. Once upon a time, this area was a collected range of forest and agriculture lands. However, the people are complaining that most of their forests and agriculture lands have sold to the industrialists and private companies with the help of Government. Due to which, the people are surviving with lots of mediocrity.
The Govt. projects like, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, Two Rupee Rice project, BPL Card, Nischhita Karma Nijukti Yojana etc. are the only formalities shown by the Government. There are many evident, which justify to this. Where school building present, there is no teacher; somewhere teachers are there, but the buildings were destroyed, or without any roof over the building. The Government totally corrupted with distributing waste food materials to the schoolchildren, due to which they are not willing to attend the classes and meanwhile serving as a child labor.
As per 'Nischhita Karma Nijukti Yojana', two persons of a family were, allotted job for 100 days a year in the non-agricultural season. However, some of the contractors are paying 10 Rs. daily to the job-card-holders instead of not working. Moreover, the cardholders are wasting this money towards consuming local-wines. This makes them economical deprived; and after a term of suffering they involving themselves in making Maoists and Naxalites.
The summer situation at 'Kalahandi' is indescribable in words. Due to the high temperature, the district faces with drought every year. The sunstroke causes the death for many numbers of people; lack of drinking water and consuming dirty water from canals and drains causes diarrhea, malaria and severe diseases. The Tribal culture, handicraft, mud work, bamboo work, etc are being vanished day by day; due to which the tribes became very meager and hopeless to survive.
I have been visited these places three to four times in my life; where I enjoyed its environment, culture and nature of people. The hills, mountains and rivers form a feeling of heaven on the earth. Just a little effort by the Government and the authorities can eradicate the dilemma of this region to a whole. This is my message and request to the readers to spread this awareness to save our nature, culture and resources, with serving additionally.
