Laughing Gas is the common name for Nitrous Oxide. This article is all about the gas and it's use.

Laughing Gas

Laughing Gas is the layman's name for the Nitrous Oxide gas. It has been believed that the gas has been invented by Joseph Priestley in the late eighteenth century. This gas is used as a local anesthesia.

Use of Laughing Gas

1. Laughing gas was primarily used by dentists as an anesthetic agent.
2. It is also being used as an oxidizer in the Rocket motor.
3. It is used as an Internal Combustion Engine during World War-II.

Laughing Gas Tragedy

It has been said that a dentist named Wells used this laughing gas as a local anesthesia to extract teeth of his patients. In fact before doing such things, he tried on himself and found its working. However, later while demonstrating the use of this gas on a patient, it did not worked and the patient suffered a lot of pain. Mr. Wells went into a state of depression after that event. And years later he committed suicide!
