About Cuttack

Cuttack is one of the oldest cities of Orissa. It was the Capital of Orissa prior to Bhubaneswar. Because of its prime geographical location between two big rivers (Mahanadi & Kathjodi), it was most suitable for Traders to import and export goods through water way. The unique location of Cuttack also contributes to its cool and pleasant climate.

Places to visit in Cuttack district

Dhabaleswar

This is a small but beautiful island in the Mahanadi river. This place can be reached by road on a hanging bridge or in a more romantic way by boat. The major attraction of this place is the beautiful Temple of Lord Shiva which is placed on a small hill with stairs leading up to the temple.

Udayagiri-Ratnagiri-Lalitgiri

A triplet of three hills displaying nature's beauty at its very best and also treasures some of the most artistic sculptures of the buddhist era.

Barabati Fort

Situated in the heart of Cuttack city core, this is one of the most ancient sculptures to be seen in cuttack. This fort was dug underground for many years and was excavated to bring out what is left of it. Surrounded by Water canal all around it, it gives a perfect idea of how the forts in orissa's glorious past were built.

Gorakhnath Temple

A beautiful and considered to be one of the most pious temples of lord Shiva. This is situated on State Highway 12 while going towards Paradeep from Cuttack. A place with a very serene atmosphere where you will love to spend a lot of time.

Chowdwar

Situated on the opposite side of the Mahandi, Chowdwar acts as the most popular picnic spot while you are in Cuttack. It has lot of places where you can have bonfires, family picnincs or have a fun filled outing with friends.
