On 26th January, 2011 the Padma Awards has been declared by the Govt. of India. To our pleasant surprise one of our finest Oriya poet Mr. Sitakanta Mohapatra, has been awarded with the second highest civilian award of India, Padma Bibhushan.

Biography of Sitakanta Mohapatra

Sitakanta Mohapatra is a renowned Oriya poet. He was born on 1937. He completed his basic education from Utkal University. Further he studied in Allahabad University and than Cambridge University. He is the most widely translated Oriya poet. His poetries are not only translated in English but also in languages like German, France, Romanian, and Russian so on and so far.

Awards & Recognition of Sitakanta Mohapatra

1.He is also the recipient of the famous "Janapith Award".
2.Recipient of State and Central Sahitya Academy Award.
3.Proud achiever of Soviet Land Nehru Award.
4.Padma Bhushan Award recipient in the year 2002.
5.Also received awards like Vishuva Award.
