This is the lyrics and the english meaning of the most popular oriya song "Aahe dayamaya bishwa bihaari".


This oriya poem is penned by Ramakrushna Nanda. It is said to be one of the most favorite poems of Mahatma Gandhi.

Aahe Dayamaya Bishwa Bihaari,
Ghena Dayabahi mora guhaari.

Meaning – Oh, Kind hearted Lord of the Universe, please consider my plea.

Jala, Sthala, Bana-Giri-Aakash,
Tuma leela sabuthare prakash.

Meaning – Water, Soil, Forest, Mountain and sky, your magical presence is everywhere.

Mote subha buddhi para seekhao,
Mote bhala bata para dekhao.

Meaning – Give me some good thoughts and show me the good path.

Mora kaamaku karao saras,
Mora mukhe dia chira haras.

Meaning – Make my job very pleasant and let there always be smile on my face.

Mote khala alasua nikate,
Nia nahi sukha aba sankate.

Meaning – No matter if it is a situation of happiness or pain, never lead me to the lazy and evil people.

Dukhi, Arakhita Seba Karane,
Bala Dia mora kar- charane.

Meaning – Give me strength in my hands and legs, so that I can serve the poor and needy people.

Tuma charanare mora bhakati,
Dia bipade sahasha shakati.

Meaning – I pray on your feet to provide me strength to fight in adverse condition.

Sata kahibaku kiaan daribi,
Sata kahi pache male maribi.

Meaning – Why should I afraid of speaking truth. Even if it took my life, I will speak the truth only.

Mote etiki sikhao saiin hai,
Mora dhana-jana loda naii hai.

Meaning – Oh Lord, I don't need any money, just teach me the above things that I wish for.
