Kalpana Dash - The first Oriya to climb Mount Everest

Kalpana Dash, a mountaineer, is the first Oriya person to reach the Mount Everest (World's highest peak). Kalpana Dash climbed to the peak of Mount Everest successfully on 21st May, 2008. The height of Mount Everest is 8,848 meter and is world's highest peak.

Biography of Kalpana Dash

Kalpana Dash was born on 7th July, 1966 in Dhenkanal district of Orissa. Her father's name is Gunanidhi Dash and mother's name is Shailabala Dash. Kalpana studied M.A. in Hindi and after that she pursued L.L.B. (Bachelor of Law). At present she is working as an Advocate.

From the childhood, Kalpana Dash was interested in mountaineering . She had a dream to climb Mount Everest. She gave her first attempt to climb Mount Everest in 2004, but was not successful. then gain she tried in 2006, but due o bad weather, she could not reach the peak. then finally on 21 may, 2008, she became successful to reach the Everest peak, along with 4 other mountaineers under her leadership.
