Bargarh is a beautiful place. There are scenic places, hills and temples in Bargarh which attract many tourists.

Wild life Sanctuary

There is a wild life sanctuary in Debrigarh, a sub-division of Bargarh. There is a range of hills known as Barapahar Hills, the sanctuary is situated on the peak of the hills. Animals like elephants, beers, wild buffaloes, deers, leopard and other animals and some birds are seen here.

Papanga Hilltop

Papanga hilltop consists of seven hills and these hills surround a valley. There is a Ashram here known as Ramachandra Yogashrama.

Devdarha

This is a beautiful scenic place located at a distance of 90 km from Bargarh city. There is a temple of Lord Shiva at this place. The river Surangi with a beautiful surrounding gives an amazing view of nature at this place.

Gandhamardan

This place has a mythological importance. This hill is described in the famous 'Ramayana'. It is believed that Hanuman carried a part of Himalayan and placed that part at this place which is known as Gandhamardan Hill.

Gandhamardan is famous for herb plants and wildlife.

Nrusinghanath Temple

Nrusinghanath Temple

Thousands of pilgrims visit Nrusinghanath Temple each year. This is a famous temple situated at a distance of 110 km from Bargarh town. The temple was built in 1413 A.D. Besides Lord Nrusinghanath, Lord Ganesh, Nav Graha and Goddess Durga are worshiped in this temple.

Asta Shambhu (8 Shiva Temples)

Bimaleswar Temple
Kedarnath Temple
Baidyanath Temple
Balunkeswar Temple
Swapneswar Temple
Vishweswar Temple
Nilakantheswar Temple
Mandhata Baba Temple

Among these 8 temples, Bimaleswar Temple and Mandhata Baba Temple are in Sambalpur district and after division Sambalpur district the other 6 temples are situated in Bargarh district.

Village of Bargarh

There are also other small villages like Diptipur, Panimura, Gaisama, Melchhamunda, Sohela, which the tourists can find of interest as these villages are full of natural scenery, forest, hills and tourists can also come to know about the culture of people of Bargarh.
