Orissa Government has proposed a Project plan to bring a solution to the Drainage problem in Cuttack in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agensy (Jica).

Cuttack is known as a Millennium City. Cuttack is a very old city and former capital of Orissa State.

Remodelling of Sewage and Drainage System of Cuttack City

Now it has been planned that the Sewage and Drainage System of Cuttack City will be remodelled by the end of 2014. This project will be completed with the help of Japan International Cooperation Agensy (Jica). The tenders will be invited in 2011 after which the work will begin. The analysis of the prospected project was analysed in a meeting held by the Commissioner of Cuttack Municipal Corporation in the first week of May 2010. Somme State Officers of PWD, R & D and Electricity Departments participated in this meeting and discussed about the different aspects of this project.

Japan's Help For Remodelling Sewage and Drainage System of Cuttack City

The Japan International Cooperation Agensy (Jica) will provide a help of 756 Crore Rupees and the Orissa Government will not have to pay back the money for the first ten years. The Orissa Government will pay back the money in next forty years without paying any interest. Technical Experts from France and Germany will be appointed to work on this project.

Aim of the Project for a better Drainage System in Cuttack City

In this project the sewage and drainage system of Cuttack city will be totally separate and the sewage of every house will be connected to the main drain. The Sewage and Drainage system will be underground and the construction work will be carried out underground so that the roads of the city will not be blocked. 11 kilometre road of the city has been marked for this project. It is expected that the water and waste water drainage problem of the city will come to an end after completion of this project.
