Importance of Puri: Puri Beach Festival held here

The sands of the renowned Puri Beach take up a special place in the life of the Orissans. Positioned on the shoreline of Bay of Bengal in Orissa, Puri beach is one among the most significant holy spots for Hindus and as well an admired tourist resort.

Puri, well-known for the temple of Lord Jagannath, is one of the four dhams of the Hindus together with Varanasi, Dwaraka and Rameshwaram. The temple of Lord Jagannath at this point is an enormous one and is legendary for its Puri Car Festival.

The extensive sandy Puri beach is pictorial and the water is shallow, which present exceptional bathing facilities.

For centuries, the beach has been the spot for innumerable pilgrims of India and other parts of the world as well taking the traditional purification dip as it is supposed that taking a sanctified dip in the waters cleanses away one's sins. Hindus regard as the water of Puri as blessed owing to the charisma of Lord Jagannath. It is moreover a unique haunt of equally Indian and foreign tourists particularly for the duration of the annual Puri Beach Festival that is regularly held in early November

The annual five day Puri beach festival is held 5th to 9th November each year. Feast of Culture and tradition if India are obtainable through these days are a delight to observe due to the multiplicity of the programmers held. A firework competition is furthermore conducted at some stage in this festival.

The habitually secluded beach becomes jam-packed on occasions for example the beach festival over and above on Kartik Purnima -the full moon day of the lunar month of Kartik. Hindus deem this day as auspicious and they assemble at the beach in the in the early hours of morning in order to taking a plunge in the sea and pray to Lord Jagganath.
