Cuttack's Barabati stadium to host IPL 2010 matches

The third edition of the Indian Premier League has brought exciting news for Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) and the thousands of cricket fans across the state. With the security of players in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam under threat due to the ongoing agitation over Telengana issue the governing board of IPL have decided to move Deccan Charger's home matches outside Andhra Pradesh. Two out of the seven home matches of the defending champions, Deccan Chargers will be played at Barabati stadium in Cuttack.

Deccan Chargers would meet Kings XI Punjab on March 19 and Delhi Daredevils March 21 at Barabati Stadium. Cuttack which is not a IPL franchisee city and has never hosted any IPL matches looks more than prepared to play a perfect host for the two matches. Cuttack's Barabati stadium got the chance to stage IPL matches as Deccan Chargers choose it as one of their preferred venues.

Ashirbad Behera, OCA secretary has said that all preparations are complete to ensure that both players and fans get a great experience during these IPL matches. Though IPL will entirely manage the matches including the sale of tickets the OCA will also have to play a crucial role to play.
