Villagers of Ajyagada Grampanchyat boycotted Panchyat election for 2nd time

    Dear Members,

When all Odisha is very much busy in casting their votes in ongoing panchyat election, then also a village is there, where people boycotted panchyat election for the second time. The village is Ajaygada, which is coming under Gumma Block of Gajapati Dist. Development of General infrastructure like road, water, health service, Education etc. has been a common demand for the villagers since a long back. People contesting in the elections always making promise before elections but they never fulfilled that after winning the election. It made them to boycott collectively the election. After the request from State Election Commission also, people boycotted the election.

I think casting vote is our right. We should vote. But when voting doesnot bring any benefit to you and elected persons forget their promise, then there is nothing wrong in boycotting election. Because Expressing your views freely is another right as per Democracy.

I won't feel it is a right decision to boycott the election. Not using power is equal to misusing it. When the whole panchayat is thinking like this, then they should choose a right person from their village and move to vote for him. They should support good people who can win the election and can able to do some development works for their village. Hence they must search a good candidate and vote them, in spite of boycott elections.
    With regards,

    Vicky
