E-Admission Process started in Odhisha, this year at 162 degree colleges; however from next year onwards it was going to implement in more than 650 degree colleges. The Odisha govt. planned to spend more than 6 crore rupees for installation of softwares, infrastructure, training, etc. Through this process a student will able to fill online forms, and track their validation, academic career, scholarship etc. It seems to a wonderful step taken by the Odisha Govt. and Education Department. However, my question is Odisha is state of villages; most of the students belong to villages and they do not have sufficient knowledge and facility of internet. In this year 2011-12, many students fail to make their admission due to sudden changes in admission process and lack of information given by their school/collge principals. So, how you feel, is E-Admission process in Odisha will be helpful for everyone? Please post your thoughts and views towards this.

Regards,
Naresh Kumar

I think it is helpful to students. But it will be more helpful to urban students only. Rural area students may not able to use this facility as they won't have internet connections to utilize this facility. So, another problem is that the insufficient availability of electricity may create another obstacle for them to use this facility. So, government must consider these points before implementing such rules.

E admission will be useful for the students. It has its own advantages and disadvantages. But advantages are more hence it should be implemented and can be proved more useful. Now students needn't have to go for different forms for different colleges. One form is enough, i.e online. One more thing, there will no duplication or extra burden of admission fees. If one want to transfer his/her name from one college to other, then no need to pay admission once again. The admission fee paid earlier will be transferred. A student can know the selection stand out clearly in the net. there will be no ambiguity. there may be some disadvantages, i.e. access to the net cafe, knowledge of internet use etc. but they are small problems.

Thanks & Regards
Krishna

Dear members,

The E-admission procedure is good for the students those who are living in the cities. This facility will not be more helpful for the rural and village students due to the lack of technological, Communication and internet facility in their places. If E-admission is implemented, a common one application form and format should be used for all colleges based on various courses offered by that college in Odisha. This admission form should be maintained in the centralized database and if the chance of admission is not available in one college, the same application form should be used for the admission of other colleges. The attachment of attested copy of certificates in the form would be properly scanned and it should be attached with the E-application form.

However, this E-Admission procedure should be an optional and it should not be a mandatory one. Then only, the rural students can benefited by this new procedure. Some exceptional will be given to them.

With regards,

S.Manoharan.
