The agriculture minister of Odisha, Mr. Pradeep Maharathy has resigned his minister post on yesterday and he gave his resignation letter to Mr. Naveen Patnaik who he is the Chief Minister of Odisha. The governor of Odisha has accepted his resignation. Mr. Pradeep Maharathy has resigned his minister post due to the Opposition accused him of protecting the culprits in a gang rape case on November 28 last year near Arjunagoda which is about 10 km from Bhubaneswar, falls under Pipili assembly constituency represented by Maharathy.
Maharathy told on Thursday that he had not quit under pressure from the opposition parties who had been demanding his resignation. Further, He told that he have tendered my resignation on moral grounds and he is not a coward, he is a stalwart. He also told that he is ready to face any inquiry regarding this issue.

After getting tremendous pressure from the opposition parties, finally the agriculture minister resigned from his post. He was alleged for supporting the culprits of Pipili rape case. The opposition also argued the resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. It if first time after a long years the opposition able to corner the government in a issue.
The former agriculture minister Pradeep Maharathy's resignation was accepted by Chief Minister and Governor of Odisha. Mr. Pradeep Maharathy claimed that he had submitted his resignation because of moral responsibility and it would not on the pressure of opposition.
