Today, our state government decided to implement the e-transit pass system to tackle the mining theft in our state. According to this law all the companies those are working in mining must have to register under Indian Bureau of Mines by January 15. Failing to register with in the time period, the companies will not be allowed to future renewal and do mining. Even they constructed a 19 member task force which will check illegal transportation of different ores and decided to install CCTV cameras in the places of mining. Our state government is trying to control all mining mafia by putting such new rules.
It is not only in Odisha but also all over India these mafias are more active and use their political, money and muscle power to doing smuggling. Do you feel this law can able to control mining smuggling?

With regards,

Vicky

Dear Vicky,

It is a nice move by Odisha Govt. I was also reading same in the paper. Earlier laws was there so also the law breakers. Law and law breakers, I think are ciose friends and both sides of a coin. But we have to keep faith on the laws and the govt. The fate of the move of the govt. for registration of Companies under Indian bureau of Ministry and CCTV camera at mines will come to the picture very soom.
Let us hope for the best.

Krishna

The same has to be done very earlier. The mafias already looted the states/countries resources and bargaining/selling in black market. Everything known to the ministers and MPS/MLAs of the state. However, they are not taking any action against this; as they are too fully involved with this kind of illegal acts. If you encounter about the biggest builders of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Paradip, and Jharsuguda, Belpahad; the list will identify the faces of persons belonging to this type of acts only. Whatever it may be, if something going to happen good/worst, there must be some changes needed; which our CM is doing at his right time - as election is coming nearby.

Dear Vicky,

The e-transit pass system would be a one solution for preventing the mining theft. I also saw the news about the Odisha Government has decided on Thursday to implement the e-transit pass system to check the mining theft in the state and irregular movement of mineral laden vehicles also. Further, the government has also decided that all mining lease holders have to register with the Bureau of Mines by January 15, 2012 and the they will not be allowed for renewals thereafter.

The government has also decided to computerise the weigh bridges for checking the overloading problem also. This decisions are good and appreciable one. The political pressures and voices are also a one reason for the theft of mining and minerals. The check gates should also be computerized to avoid the mining theft.

With regards,

S.Manoharan.
