15th National Youth Festival

More then 4000 youth from all states are participate in 17 catagories of cultural event in classical or sami-classical and also folk art during the 15th National Youth Festival to be held in Bhubaneswar from January 8 to 12 2010. This was revealed at a meeting of the National Steering Committee for the mega festival in New Delhi. Chief Minister and Union Sports Minister co-chaired the meeting. The festival will also provide a platform for youths to display their talent at the Yuva Kritti and Young Artist Camp in the Festival. Orissa will be hosting the National Youth Festival for the first time. The meeting approved Gori, the lone albinocrocodile of Bhitarkanika inOrissa, as the mascot forthe festival. The theme of the festival proposed by the state “Celebrating Diversity” was well received by the committee. The Festival logo depicts six active stylized youth portraying “unity in diversity” add pluralistic nature of the country. The State Government will unveil the logo and the mascot in a befitting manner at Bhubaneswar during the second week of December. The State Government was taking all steps to make the event a memorable one. The rich cultural heritage of the state will be showcased during the opening and closing ceremonies of the festival that will be held at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.
